Transcript of an interview by Daema Laeksya

Daema Laeksya: Welcome back to my show, where I interview anyone of interest to Erebos, from one-hit wonders to beloved celebrities. I’m your host, Daema Laeksya, and today I have the honor of interviewing the pre-eminent magical leader of the nation. Now, as if that doesn’t give it away, #1. Tell us, who are you?

Elsieaena: My name is Elsiaena Reivores. I am the Head Master of the Masters’ Academy.

D: #2. What’s special about you?

E: I suppose you could say I’m special because at the moment I’m the only non-noble member of the Master’s Council. It’s unique right now, though of course many of the Head Masters have been from outside the nobility, as the Masters’ Academy strives to provide opportunities for all magic users in Erebos.

D: #3. What’s your favorite thing about your job?

E: Every day I learn something new about magic. I walk around the Academy and see kids experimenting with techniques I never would have dreamed of, or read papers from professors with far more creativity than I could ever dream of. I get to be at the forefront of magical development. It’s a privilege I’m grateful for.

D: #4. How would your friends describe you in three words?

E: Smart. Resourceful. Realistic.

D: #5. What’s your favorite thing about living here in Erebosia?

E: I sound like the spokesperson I am, but genuinely I love the Masters’ Academy. As I mentioned, seeing the innovations we make every day, new magical discoveries, it’s more than I ever could have dreamed of.

D: #6. If you could have any other job, what would it be?

E: If I weren’t a Master? I’ve never really considered it. I suppose I’d probably be an advisor to the Royal Family, like my father was. But thankfully I have magic, so I never had to explore other options.

D: #7. Who is the most important person in your life?

E: Oh. What happens when the most important person in your life is gone? Do we ever really replace them? Maybe we should, maybe that’s how life’s supposed to go but I don’t think I know how.

D: Would you like to honor them by sharing their name?

E: Lifa Saentes

D: And their story?

E: She was the greatest master I’ve ever known. She died in the war. She should have had my job but she gave her life for this country instead.

D: I’m sorry for your loss.

E: You should be sorry for Erebos. She’s the nation’s loss. And it was the nation that sacrificed her. Forgive me, that was not… fair. Let’s move on.

D: Alright. #8. What’s your ideal day off?

E: Hah. Yes, let’s keep it light. Again, it sounds fake but I truly love my job. I don’t get many days off and I don’t mind it. My ideal day is a day spent wandering the Academy and seeing what new discoveries are being made. But I suppose it would also be interesting to travel, to see how magic is used in other parts of the world.

D: #9. What was the best moment of your life?

E: Oh. I’ll say becoming the Head Master of the Academy. It opened so many doors. Yes, that’s a good answer.

D: #10. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

E: What a question. I quite like the world how it is. But I suppose, well, war, of course. If we could forever live in peace, if we could never fight another war, that would be idyllic. But dreams of utopia are not worth much, when we know they’ll never come true. I guess I just wish that as few people die fighting as possible.

D: A noble wish. I like to think we may all dream of a better world, and maybe our dreams will lead us to a better future. Thank you, Master Reivores. It is a privilege to hear your thoughts. And thank you for all you do for the country.

E: It is my honor.

D: Thank you for listening to this episode of 10 Q’s with Daema Laeksya. Please let me know in the comments who I should interview next!
